The event is orchestrated by a cadre of young professionals who object to the idea of people being defined by their careers. Too many people go through their lives regretting that they don't have enough time to express themselves creatively. The Acid Jam provides an outlet for these people. It's a way to meet like-minded imaginative types who can appreciate the practical constraints of keeping a day job while undertaking crazy schemes and bold artistic projects in their own time. The Jam encourages them to work together to use their time more constructively. At every Acid Jam you'll have the chance to meet people who are just bursting with ideas. Usually these are ideas that they want other people to get involved with. You might find yourself persuaded to join a part-time band or a performing arts groups. Maybe you'll be the person persuading others to take part in your own project. Perhaps you'll come up with a fresh idea during a conversation with someone you meet on the night, then develop it over coming weeks via the Corpus Callosum. Already the Jam has given birth to a number of new creative groups, including a film crew, a dance troupe and several bands. Click here to see our current projects. At your first Jam you might be bewildered by the range of activities on offer. Some people feel that they want to try a bit of everything, but are afraid that they're not very good at anything. We don't care. What we want is for you to find something you like, even if you're bad at it, and persevere with it. The Jam is always full of people who are willing to teach their own particular skills; if you put in the time and effort to master something, you won't regret it. Of course, the best way to do that is to come to the Jam every month...
